Terms worth

What is performance psychology?

A field that applies psychological science to the demands of high-performance contexts — sport, business, the performing arts. At its best, it's not motivation — it's measurable skill development grounded in clinical methodology.

What is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)?

The gold standard treatment for OCD. ERP involves graduated exposure to situations that trigger obsessive thoughts, while practicing the response-prevention that breaks the cycle. Difficult — and highly effective.

What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)?

An evidence-based therapeutic approach that builds psychological flexibility — the ability to hold difficult thoughts and feelings without letting them drive behavior. Particularly useful in high-performance contexts where discomfort is unavoidable.

What does 'doctoral-level' mean in practice?

A doctorate in clinical psychology involves 5–7 years of graduate training beyond an undergraduate degree, including clinical practicums, supervised clinical hours, and a research dissertation. It is the highest level of academic and clinical training in psychology.
